Sheleg is a guy who has traveled the world and he is willing to exchange his life with a bum from Atlanta streets whose travels do not go over a 10 miles radius. Sheleg wants to buy the bum's entire life and experiences so he can take it to Fiji and show him all around the world. Their friendship and connection with their life experiences teaches us a fascinating view of the world and its consequences. How La Mochila came about: In 2005 my friend Rony wrote the book called "La Respuesta" or the answer. I liked the book so much that when I read chapter two called "El mendigo" or the beggar I decided that I wanted to do a short film version. I could not find people who wanted to help me do it until I met at work my friend Gilberto. Gilberto read the book and liked it too. He said, "I would love to do the short." And since then a beautiful journey began to make magic with a few friends and one idea. In November of 2011 Gilberto and I sat down to adapt the script. Originally story happens in New York. So, we had to go find places that would fit Ronny's story. Gilberto was able to find some places and invited me to scout others places by Castleberry near downtown Atlanta. Trivia: Originally I wanted to film at the Graveyard Tavern for the restaurant scene. Thankfully the guys at The Brick Store said yes to film there. Finally in May 2013, we began shooting La Mochila for 3 days. It took a while to edit due to changes and other things but finally in July 2013 we finished mixing the audio with Claudio Corsi. Now, we together here. I entered a few festival including the Sundance Film Festival. From Ronny's dream to my dream to everyone's dream. La Mochila. A film to make feel good.
